Electoral judge Tiago Machado confirmed, in a decision this Monday (25), the expulsion of former minister Aldo Rebelo from DC (Christian Democracy), following a decision by the national leadership of the party.
The exclusion of party cadres has already been carried out by the Superior Electoral Court. Aldo, who still presents himself as a pre-candidate for president of the party, promises to appeal.
The expulsion comes against the backdrop of the party’s decision to join former minister Joaquim Barbosa, from , and launch him to the Presidency.
In reaction, Aldo made accusations against the national president of the party, João Caldas, associating him with the Master case. This led to the expulsion decision.
Barbosa himself has not yet said whether he is a candidate for president, and has made it a condition to have an adequate structure for this.
