Ten people die after a small plane crashes in Antioquia

The Colombian authorities have confirmed this Friday the death of the ten people who were traveling aboard a small plane that had disappeared two days ago in the department of Antioquia, in the northwest of the country.

“Civil Aeronautics informs the public that, after the efforts made by the rescue teams, it has been confirmed that the accident site indeed corresponds to the HK2522 aircraft. Unfortunately, no survivors were found on the site,” the aeronautical authority said in a statement published on its account on the social network X.

In the same message, they have reported that the Accident Investigation Directorate “will initiate the corresponding investigations to determine the causes of this event”, while ensuring that it will provide the necessary support to the families of the deceased, expressing its “more “deepest condolences and solidarity” in “these difficult times.”

The day before, the entity itself notified the dispatch of a search and rescue team made up of specialized personnel to the point where fragments had previously been found that they suspected could belong to the missing aircraft between Betulia and Urrao, southwest of Antioquia, like themselves. they had revealed.

The plane, operated by the Pacifica de Aviación company, disappeared around 5:30 p.m. (local time) on Wednesday when it was traveling from Juradó to Medellín, occupied by a dozen people, according to local media, which have indicated that the last contact with the airplane crew took place while they were flying between the municipalities of Betulia and Urrao, where the search work began.
