Understand the reward offered by the USA:
- Rewards for Chavista leaders: US offers up to US$65 million for information leading to the arrest of Maduro (US$25 million), Cabello (US$25 million) and Padrino López (US$15 million).
- New economic sanctions: US treasury targets eight Maduro allies, including leaders of PdVSA and Conviasa, for human rights violations.
- Criticism of Maduro’s inauguration: Biden government rejects the 2024 re-election as fraudulent and reinforces support for the democratic vote in Venezuela.

As explained by Treasury Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Bradley T. Smith, “PdVSA has been central to generating illicit revenues used to support the regime. Obregón Pérez is fundamental in this operation.”
“Since last year’s election, Maduro and his associates have followed his repressive actions in Venezuela. The US, together with partners, stands in solidarity with the Venezuelan people’s vote for new leadership and rejects Maduro’s claim of fraudulent victory,” said Bradley.
Additionally, the US will extend temporary protected status for thousands of Venezuelans for 18 months, but will not change the licenses of foreign companies like Chevron to extract oil from Venezuela.
