It was only recently that people became aware again of the influence that VALIE EXPORT from Linz had not only on the art world, but also on the film world, and what a deep footprint the exceptional artist, who died on May 14, 2026, left behind. At the Austrian Film Awards last Thursday, the prize sculpture designed by VALIE EXPORT 2011 was named Valie. One can hardly imagine a more worthy name for the local film award. Whether EXPORT would have liked that is another question.
