A woman was seriously injured when she was attacked with a knife by her husband on a central street in West Berlin. A passing driver tried to help her, to no avail.
According to the police, the 25-year-old Syrian had ambushed his 38-year-old German wife at a central intersection, where she would pass on her way to her children’s school. When he saw her, he grabbed her from behind and punched her in the face. A driver who saw the scene wanted to help the woman and pulled her into her car.
Her husband, however, got into the passenger seat and attacked his wife with a knife, inflicting serious blows on her face and neck. He then tried to escape, but later surrendered to the police. His wife is out of danger in hospital, but is not yet in a position to give a statement.
