Ceremonial invites former president “in the name of President-elect Trump” to participate in the ceremony and inaugural ball
The former president (PL) was invited by Donald Trump (Republican Party) to his inauguration as president of the United States. The ceremony, called Inauguration Daywill be held in Washington DC on January 20th. The Brazilian’s departure, however, depends on authorization from the Brazilian Court (understand below).
In the invitation sent by email, to which the Poder360 had access, the ceremony invites Bolsonaro and a companion “in the name of President-elect Trump” to participate in the ceremony and the traditional – which will be on the same date.
Confirmation is also requested that the former president will attend the inauguration – which will depend on the authorization of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court). This is because Bolsonaro had his passport withheld after a PF (Federal Police) operation that investigated a possible coup d’état attempt.

UNDERSTAND
On Friday (January 10), Bolsonaro asked the STF for authorization and the return of his passport to travel to the USA on January 17th and return to Brazil on the 22nd.
Moraes ordered this Saturday (11 January) that the former president’s defense present an official document proving the invitation to Trump’s inauguration ceremony. According to the minister, when requesting the release of the passport, the lawyers did not present elements to prove the reason for the trip abroad. Read (PDF – 126 kB).
“Before its analysis, however, there is a need for additional evidence, as the request did not come properly accompanied with the necessary documents, since the message was sent to deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro’s email from an unidentified address: ‘ ‘ and without any time or schedule of the event to be held”it says.
However, the defense claims that the email address used refers to the domain chosen and created by the Trump Inaugural Committee, T47Inaugural – in reference to Trump being the 47th North American president + “inaugural” (inauguration, in Portuguese).
