Gleisi says Freitas’ impeachment is “political aggression”

Petista participated in an act in favor of the deputy, who could lose his mandate due to an exchange of punches in Curitiba

The federal deputy (PT-PR) participated, this Saturday (June 6, 2026), in the act against the process of of the state deputy (PT-PR). The congresswoman defended her party colleague and called the possible loss of office “unprecedented political aggression”.

Freitas is tried before the Ethics Council of the Legislative Assembly of Paraná because of a fight with a man on the streets of Curitiba.

In posts on Instagram, the deputy praised Renato as someone with an active voice, who contests and fights for the causes in which he believes. “It is an unprecedented political aggression for the Legislative Assembly to take away a mandate granted by popular vote. Renato, we will be there until the end so that you stay, because you staying means resistance”, these.

According to Gleisi, Renato’s mandate does not belong only to him, but to young black people, women from the outskirts and people who suffer social injustice. “Few who are born in these conditions are able to take center stage.”, these.

CASSATION OF FREITAS

Alep’s Parliamentary Ethics and Decorum Council recommended the revocation of Renato Freitas’ mandate on May 11. The vote analyzed the PT member’s fight with a valet in the center of Curitiba in November 2025.

Five of the 6 council members voted for impeachment. The only vote against was from deputy Dr. Antenor (PT). He defended the dismissal of the case or the application of more moderate penalties.

The case will still be taken to the Alep plenary, made up of 54 deputies. For the impeachment to be confirmed, at least 28 votes in favor are required.

The one between the deputy and the valet was in November 2025 in the center of Curitiba. Videos recorded the confusion and spread on social media. Renato Freitas broke his nose. The valet suffered injuries to his eye area and stated that he did not know who the deputy was.
