JD Vance Recalls Iran Ceasefire Agreement, Criticizes Strait of Hormuz Ship Attack. He warns that further violence will provoke an even tougher American response.
US Vice President JD Vance warned Iran on Friday that it would face “violence” in the event of further attacks after the US military announced a retaliatory strike in response to an Iranian attack on a cargo ship. TASR reported on this based on a report by the AFP agency.
“Iran signed a cease-fire agreement. We honored it. If they have reservations about how the memorandum of understanding is being implemented, they can pick up the phone. But violence will be returned with violence,” Vance wrote on the social network X. The vice president was referring to the memorandum of understanding, which aims to end the nearly four-month-old conflict.
The US military said on Friday it had launched strikes against targets in Iran in response to a drone attack on a merchant ship in the Strait of Hormuz that Washington blamed on Tehran. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said aircraft struck Iran’s missile and drone depots as well as coastal radar sites after Iran launched a drone attack on the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lovely on Thursday.
