Hilde Dosogne completed the challenge on the last day of 2024. In 366 days, she ran more than 15 thousand kilometers, the equivalent of a round trip to India.
The 55-year-old Belgian was the first woman in the world to undertake this adventure. “I’m really happy that I was able to run a marathon every day for a year. In fact, I still can’t believe I did it.”
Hilde had to give up a lot of time with her family to make this dream come true. The support of her husband and daughter were essential to overcome her fatigue.
“Mental effort is more difficult than physical effort. Of course, physically, everything has to be fine. But the hardest part was overcoming the psychological challenge of returning to the starting line every day.”
“My mother achieved a world record”
In the last race of the year Hilde was applauded by a crowd in Gent, Belgium. The first hug was for Lucie, the daughter, who couldn’t hide her pride and emotion.
“Congratulations, mom! It came true, my mother achieved a world record. We are all very proud of her”
In addition to the record, Hilde Dosogne had a charitable objective. With the 366 marathons I managed to raise 65 thousand euros for breast cancer research. In 2025, Hilde will continue racing. The next challenge will be in Greece, with a 246 kilometer race.
