A survey by the Public Leadership Center (CLP) shows that Rio de Janeiro is the state with the lowest proportional number of fatal accidents in the country.
The conclusion is part of, produced by the entity, which will be launched in August.
According to the research, Rio has 7.42 traffic deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, well below the national average of 21.35/100,000.
São Paulo appears as the second unit in the Federation with the lowest number of fatal accidents, with 11.24/100 thousand inhabitants. Despite the large population, the state accounts for 2.02% of deaths in Brazil. In third place was Amapá, with 12.82/100 thousand.
“Reducing traffic deaths requires a collective effort. When there is an integrated and efficient set of public policies, it is possible to advance in the construction of safer and more humane cities. The results achieved also reinforce the importance of continuous education and awareness campaigns, which help to strengthen a culture of respect for life in traffic”, says the CEO of the CLP, Tadeu Barros.
In the analysis by region, the Southern states, on average, have the lowest proportional number of fatal accidents: 58.63/100 thousand inhabitants. The Southeast region is in second place, with 59.25/100 thousand.
In terms of capitals, São Paulo leads the list with the lowest traffic mortality rate, with 2.86 deaths per group of 100,000. The city of Rio de Janeiro reached second place, with 4.10 deaths in a population of 100 thousand.
