Ventura is tired of living in this Portugal

Chega’s president, André Ventura

Chega’s leader repeats on stage: “Put us against the wall! Over and over and over again! Until they realize that this country is ours.”

“I’m tired of living in a country where people criminals have all rights and we have to eat, shut up, eat and ignore. I’m tired of living in this country“.

Andre Ventura was the expected protagonist in the concentration promoted by Chega called “For authority and against impunity”which brought together a few hundred people.

It took place in Lisbon, at Praça da Figueira, and was called after the announcement of a campaign against racism and xenophobia, following the police operation on December 19th in Martim Moniz.

The two demonstrations were only 300 meters apart. In this Chega they would be around 400 people; in the other approximately 15,000.

The Chega leader criticized the Government and the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, for a few weeks after the police operation he stated that he did not like seeing the image of immigrants leaning against the wall.

I should have had the courage – and I could have even been here – should have had the courage to say: when you start alongside the security forces, you go all the way. Because what the Portuguese need today is politicians who go all the way, who are not afraid, who do not give in to pressure”, he considered, accusing other political forces of having given in to this pressure.

“I liked that a lot of these left-wing leaderswhen they have a problem, instead of calling the police, call Batman, or call Supermanor call someone who comes with red carnations to solve home robberies, rape of girlfriends or boyfriends, attacks on property”, he criticized.

Chega’s leader refused that the party is dividing the country or that is increasing insecurity, when asked about the number of police resources mobilized to accompany the demonstration against racism and this vigil.

We will continue to go out on the streetsover and over and over again. AND I’m sure most Portuguese people agree with what we are doing here today. And even those who are not here, if they had to choose sides, they would say they want a country in which there are more rights for normal people than for criminals”, he stated.

And, after “not one more” immigrant, now the slogan is about pushing back against the wall: “Put them against the wall! Again and again and again! Until they realize that this country is ours and that the law must be followed!”, he repeated on stage.

At the end, Ventura was asked about polls for the elections presidential and reinforced: “I’m going to the second roundyou can write that down.”
