According to Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD), individual cadastre workplaces in the districts should gradually start up next week. However, he cannot guarantee when exactly the cadastre will be functional again. He stated this in the Sunday discussion show STVR at 5 minutes on the 12th.

“That cannot be estimated, so that I do not promise something that I do not do. I will guarantee you the things that I do myself. I can only confirm one fact that professional services for surveyors and others will go first, and the online ones will gradually be renewed services. For now, individual cadastre offices should start working within the next week, and I think it will be restored relatively quickly” said the minister.

He declared that all data is available and the system will be completely restored. He thanked all those responsible for responding to the cyber attack immediately. He added that it will be analyzed whether and how it could have been prevented.

The chairman of the opposition PS Michal Šimečka, on the other hand, criticized the government for slow progress and reaction to the situation. “If we hadn’t organized press conferences, I’m afraid that even the Security Council wouldn’t have met,” he noted, adding that it was convened late. He also criticized the way the government communicated about the attack. He pointed out that the cadastre has not been working for a week and people who are, for example, in the process of buying, inheriting or approval are already facing problems.

At the same time, Šimečka again criticized Prime Minister Robert Fico’s (Smer-SD) trip to Moscow and Brussels. He claims that he has caused nothing but shame for the citizens of the Slovak Republic. He also criticized Fica for verbal attacks and threats against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, he pointed out that the government should have prepared for the gas situation earlier.

In response, Kaliňák stated that the prime minister reacted to Ukraine’s violation of the agreement. “Robert Fico takes care of the interests of the Slovak Republic, which are crucial for its continued viability. (…) The journey had its meaning and was absolutely clear. From Monday, the discussion of the working group begins on how to solve the situation,” he pointed out. According to him, depending on the results, they will discuss and prepare individual reciprocal measures towards Ukraine, which the prime minister has already announced.

They also partially touched the domestic political scene. Kaliňák confirmed that Smer-SD is a guarantor of stability. According to him, the remaining coalition parties SNS and Hlas-SD are working to restore their unity. Šimečka pointed out that the sooner political change comes through parliamentary elections, the better for Slovakia.
