Discover the homemade trick that will get rid of the musty smell in your bath towels

The musty smell of bath towels, combined with their tendency to become stiff and scratchy after multiple uses and washes, is a frequent problem. This home accessory is constantly exposed to humidity, creating an environment conducive to the growth of mold and bacteria, responsible for bad odors. Additionally, when towels do not dry properly between uses or are stored in unventilated areas, the problem can worsen.

According to her, to avoid this situation, it is essential to ensure that bath towels are well dried and washed regularly. However, there is a simple trick that can help eliminate odors and restore softness to towels, leaving them looking like new. This method was shared by TikTok content creator, @renovandoideas, known for sharing tips for the home.

According to the content creator, the stiffness of the towels is due to the “accumulation of detergents and minerals present in the water in the fabrics”. As for the bad smell, he states that this is caused by the “presence of fungi and bacteria”. To solve these problems, towels must undergo “rehabilitation”.

The first step is to soak them in a solution of warm water and vinegar: “We add a cup of vinegar for every 5 liters of water, let it soak for an hour and then put it in the wash”, he explains. In the washing machine, the trick is to use “a tablespoon of powder or liquid detergent and 30 grams of sodium percarbonate, choosing a 40 degree wash cycle”.

After washing, the towels must be shaken well to loosen the fibers and then dried in the shade. It is recommended to turn them approximately every two hours to ensure uniform and effective drying.
