Kassab will be Caiado’s vice-president on the PSD ticket for President – 06/30/2026 – Politics

National president of , will be the candidate for vice president in the race for the Presidency of the Republic.

The decision will be announced this Wednesday (1st), during an event in Brasília. The information was anticipated by the newspaper O Globo and confirmed by Sheet. With this, the PSD will proceed to the presidential elections with a pure ticket, that is, made up only of party cadres.

A month ago, Kassab had published on social media that he made himself available to the party to be Caiado’s deputy. He said, at the time, that the idea came from two historic PSD cadres, former senators Heráclito Fortes —who presides over the party’s political council— and Jorge Bornhausen.

“Even though I have already stated that a pure ticket candidacy could be a concrete hypothesis, I understand that many steps and understandings need to be completed, inside and outside our party, until a decision is made about the profile of our ticket”, said Kassab in an Instagram post on May 30th.

Kassab was cautious when talking about the vice president because he was still trying to attract another party to the ticket. To allies, he argued that adding other acronyms could give greater political capital and relevance to the dispute, in addition to more advertising time on radio and TV and the use of electoral funds in the campaign.

One of the conversations was precisely with the former governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), to try to unite the candidacies in the first round of the elections, since both are far from (PT) and () in voting intention polls.

They met at the end of March to discuss, but the idea did not go ahead because neither Caiado nor Zema admitted the idea of being vice-presidents, according to assistants of both pre-candidates.

Caiado recorded 3% voting intentions in the latest Datafolha survey. Lula got 41%, Flávio, with 31%, (Missão) with 3%, (Novo) with 2%, Aécio Neves (PSDB) with 2%, Samara Martins (UP) with 2%, Augusto Cury (Avante) with 2%, Joaquim Barbosa (DC) with 1%, Cabo Daciolo (Mobiliza) with 1% and Rui Costa Pimenta (PCO) with 1%.
