Classified in the round of 16 of the World Cup, the Brazilian team returned to training on Tuesday morning (30), at the Columbia Park CT, in Morristown (New Jersey). Only players who did not play or played very little in the 2-1 victory over Japan, on Monday (29), in Houston, participated in the activity.
Those who were starters were given rest and did regenerative work. The same went for Endrick, who came on at half-time, and for Martinelli, who was called on by Carlo Ancelotti 20 minutes into the second half and ended up becoming the hero of the green-yellow classification.
Of those who were on the field at the turnaround, only Fabinho and Danilo Santos, who only played in stoppage time of the duel with the Japanese, took to the pitch with boots on this Tuesday. The training therefore included Ederson, Weverton, Ibañez, Bremer, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro, Fabinho, Éderson Silva, Danilo Santos, Luiz Henrique, Neymar and Igor Thiago.
Raphinha has not yet been integrated into the group. The striker is recovering from an injury to his right thigh suffered in the victory over Haiti, in the second round of the World Cup, on the 19th. He is undergoing treatment and hopes to be available for at least a few minutes in the round of 16, next Sunday (5), but his presence is still uncertain.
Also worrying is the situation of Lucas Paquetá, who left the match against Japan at half-time, with pain in his left thigh. Ancelotti awaits the results of the tests, but knows that he will hardly be able to count on him in the game that will qualify for the quarterfinals of the World Cup, at the MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford.
Once the reserves’ training is complete, the athletes will have lunch at the hotel where the delegation is concentrated, in Basking Ridge. Afterwards, they will be released for time off and will report again late in the afternoon on Wednesday (1st) to effectively begin preparation for the clash with Ivory Coast or Norway.
