The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) did not specify the severity of the problem, but it is certain that the midfielder will not defend Brazil in the round of 16 of the World Cup, on Sunday (5).
According to the confederation’s statement, “the player will follow an intensive treatment protocol, accompanied by the Brazilian team’s medical team, aiming for his recovery and return to activities in the shortest possible time.” He continues to be part of the group, with no cuts being considered at this time.
The number 20 felt the injury in the first half of the match against Japan, last Monday (20). Shortly before the break, he went to the ground, complaining a lot of pain. He had to be supported by Neymar and Endrick to leave the pitch and, hours after the match at NRG Stadium, in Houston, he continued to limp.
The situation is similar to that experienced by Raphinha, who suffered an injury to his right thigh in the triumph over Haiti, on the 19th. At the time, the CBF statement was also vague.
