IL wants to include nationality in statistical data on crimes

The Liberal Initiative wants the Government to disclose the nationality and type of residence permit of those who commit crimes. The party defends that political discussion is based on data and not on “emotions”.

IL wants crime statistics to include information regarding the gender, age, nationality and type of residence permit of criminals and victims.

The party presents this Wednesday, at a press conference scheduled for 10 am, the draft resolution that it will present to the Legislative Assembly with recommendations to the government.

Liberals consider that the information that currently exists is “insufficient” and understand that only with more data will it be possible to “understand in depth” criminal phenomena and their dynamics.

They also argue that the fight against political use takes place with data and not with a “statistical void” and highlight the importance of political discussion being based on facts and not “emotions”.

“Policy must be based on facts and data and its non-availability or poor quality is counterproductive and only serves as a catalyst for prejudice and stigma instead of protecting and reliably portraying criminal dynamics.”

IL also highlights that in the available databases, namely the Online Justice Statistics Portal and the Annual Internal Security Report (RASI), it is only possible to filter and analyze data based on the type of crime and location.
