According to the data released, Thailand received 940,051 tourists from this region, surpassing the 759,619 registered in 2019, which until then represented the best performance. Tourist revenues also had a significant increase, rising from 49.9 billion baht in 2019 to 64.4 billion baht in 2024. Portugal stood out by presenting a 33.31% increase in the number of visitors compared to previous year, reaching a total of 54,793 tourists. The success led TAT to classify Latin countries as the “Rising Stars” of Thai tourism. In total, Thailand welcomed 35 million international visitors in 2024.
The director of TAT in Rome, Nanthasiri Ronnasiri, stated that “2024 was a successful and proud year for Thai tourism in the southern European market”, also highlighting that this growth resulted, in part, from strategic collaborations with airlines. For 2025, TAT intends to focus on promoting more sustainable and quality tourism, through the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign, which will offer diversified experiences to visitors, reveals .
