Mediators confirm that they will ensure Israel and Hamas’ implementation of the Gaza agreement “in all its phases”
The United States, Qatar and Egypt, the mediators and guarantors of the Gaza truce agreement between Israel and Hamas, confirmed in a joint statement that they will ensure the implementation of the pact by the two parties “in all its phases.”
“Egypt, the State of Qatar and the United States of America affirm that their policy as guarantors of the agreement is to ensure that both parties fully implement its three phases,” underlines a joint statement made public in recent hours by the Egyptian Presidency. “Accordingly, the mediators will work together to ensure that the parties meet their obligations in the agreement and the full continuation of the three phases,” he adds.
The note reiterates that the pact, announced on Wednesday and which will enter into force next Sunday, contains three phases. “The first, of 42 days, includes a ceasefire, the withdrawal and withdrawal of Israeli forces out of densely populated areas, the exchange of prisoners and detainees (hostages), the exchange of the remains of the deceased, the return of internally displaced people to their homes in the Gaza Strip and facilitate the departure of the sick and injured to receive treatment,” he explains.
This first phase, he adds, “also includes intensifying the safe and effective entry and distribution of large-scale humanitarian aid throughout the Strip, rehabilitating hospitals, health centers and bakeries, bringing in civil defense and fuel supplies, as well as shelter supplies.” for displaced people who lost their homes due to war.”
The note highlights that the guarantors “will work in coordination with the United Nations, donor countries and partners around the world to support a rapid and sustained increase in humanitarian assistance to Gaza, according to the terms established in the agreement.”
Qatari Prime Minister Mohamed bin Abdulrahman explained on Wednesday that in this first phase, Hamas will release a total of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for Israel’s release of Palestinian prisoners, whose number he did not specify. He also indicated that during the development of these actions, the parties will specify the details of the second and third phases of the ceasefire, and that “a monitoring mechanism will be installed in Cairo by a joint team from the three countries.” (guarantors) who will supervise the implementation of the agreement and everything that has been agreed upon.” (Efe)
