Former Real Madrid full-back, Fábio Coentrão is suspected of involvement in an illegal seafood trade case. A ton of illegal live seafood was found in the port of Póvoa de Varzim, in Portugal, inside a player’s warehouse. The information confirmed by the Brazilian Food Authority (ASAE) this Thursday (16).

The reporting team from SIC Notícias, the portal that released the information, was at the scene and filmed Coentrão in possession of the cargo. In addition to space, he also owns three fishing boats. “Get the son of a bitch away from the camera,” Fábio Coentrão told journalists from the Portuguese outlet.

In addition to the former athlete’s lot, two other illegal warehouses in northern Portugal had their activities suspended. In addition, 17 tons of products were seized. Inspectors also visited a site linked to the player and found 12 seawater tanks, full of lobsters and shrimps.

Authorities seized more than a ton of shellfish due to various irregularities, including the absence of invoices and problems with the marketing license. Fábio Coentrão’s family has a history of involvement in fishing activities in the north of São Paulo. After retiring, the former athlete decided to return to this activity.

Revealed by Rio Ave, Fábio Coentrão played for Benfica, where he was successful before being signed by Real Madrid in 2011. The full-back played little for the Spanish club and, after loans to Monaco and Sporting, he left Real in 2018.
