In order for blueberries to grow healthily and bear fruit, we must provide them with very specific conditions. By far the most important of them is an acidic substrate – the ideal pH is from 3.5 to 5.5. These shrubs like light, permeable soil that is rich in humus, so the addition of peat will work great. You should also take care of the appropriate position: it should be fully sunny and protected from the wind. In addition, to maintain optimal conditions, it is worth mulching (e.g. with pine bark), using fertilizers for acid-loving plants and regularly trimming the branches. If you take care of it well, blueberries will reward you with healthy and vitamin-rich fruit for many years.
