The CEO of TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, thanked the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, for his “commitment to working for a solution” that allows the network to continue in the country, in a video published on his profile on the social network itself.
Zi Chew reaffirmed his “fight to protect Americans’ right to freedom of expression” and classified the US court decision to ban the application as “censorship”. “We will do everything in our power to ensure that our platform thrives”, added the CEO.
Earlier, the US Supreme Court rejected the appeal against the decision that banned TikTok, and the application will be removed from the country from Sunday.
Trump then promised to make a decision on the future of TikTok “in the not-so-distant future”, but asked for time to assess the situation.
