For the third time this season, Bahia’s alternative team will have the chance to win their first in the Bahia Championship. This Sunday (19), the tricolor will face Jacobina, at 6:30 pm, at the José Rocha stadium, in the 3rd round of the state championship.
So far, the tricolor continues to lack in the competition. The team debuted with a goalless draw against Jacuipense, at Carneirão, and in the last round was defeated at home, 1×0, by Atlético de Alagoinhas.
The confrontation, in fact, will put two teams face to face that are trying to win so as not to be too far from the classification zone. Jacobina lost the first two games they played in Baianão and, without points, are currently bottom.
The tendency is for coach Leonardo Galbes to maintain the base of the team that played in the first two matches. The tricolor has been represented by a mix of under-20 athletes and players who returned after loans and are out of space in the main team.
For the coach, the team has been paying for its anxiety when completing the plays. Against Carcará, the tricolor played a good game and created great opportunities, but failed to find the net and conceded the goal in the end.
“There is a component of tension when you represent the main team of your group, but we cannot go on the side that the fans pressured, hindered. It is part of the process for these young people to experience the Bahia fans, to feel the Bahia fans Under no circumstances did the pressure increase, the fans supported it from the first to the last minute of the game. It was excellent for the players, it’s a shame we didn’t give the fans three points”, he analyzed.
By the way, the away match will also be the “B team”’s farewell to the season. According to Bahia’s initial planning, the alternative team will only play the first three games of the state championship, while the main squad, coached by Rogério Ceni, carries out the pre-season in Girona, Spain.
On Monday, the tricolor delegation will leave Europe and return to Brazil. The official debut will be on Thursday (23), against Sampaio Corrêa, at 8 pm, at Fonte Nova, in the first round of the Copa do Nordeste. However, whoever from the under-20s attracts attention can gain more minutes with Ceni.
This year, Bahia will need a robust squad, as they will compete in five competitions. In addition to Baiano and Nordestão, the club will participate in the Copa do Brasil, Libertadores and Campeonato Brasileiro.
“Thinking about development, it is important that these younger athletes experience this moment of playing in games so close together. In each area of the field, offensively speaking, there is a rhythm to propose play and possession of the ball, we can have a more rhythmic rhythm in the middle, and accelerate the rhythm in attack. This alternation is coherent for me. It’s not about having or not having rhythm, it’s about the player choosing correctly when to speed up or play a slower game”, added the coach.
