However, in order to enjoy its attractive flowering, you need to devote a lot of attention to it.

Stefanotis is a potted flower that blooms from early spring to late summer. It is characterized by white, intensely scented flowers, somewhat resembling a trumpet in shape. In addition the plant is rich in evergreen leaves, which makes it an attractive decoration even after the flowering period.

Although it occurs naturally in Madagascar, stefanotis can also be grown in Poland, as a potted plant. However, it is worth noting that due to its requirements, It is recommended for slightly more experienced lovers of home greenery.

As a vine, stefanotis requires support to grow. Thanks to this, as it grows, you can use a braided support to create an impressive decoration from this plant. Therefore the appearance certainly compensates for the effort needed to make the stefanotis grow healthily and luxuriantly.

The plant can be extremely capricious, and even small mistakes in care can cause it to weakenwhich is manifested by falling leaves or lack of flowering. So what should you pay attention to when growing stefanotis at home?

First of all, the key issues are the position and conditions. Stefanotis prefers bright places that are not exposed to direct sunlight. The ideal position is a windowsill with a curtain hanging on the window. Importantly, this plant does not tolerate contact with other plantsso it is best to allocate it a space free to grow, away from other species.

As for the conditions, the plant feels best at a constant temperature, which, depending on the season, should fluctuate around 20 degrees C in summer and 14 degrees C in winter. It is important to protect the stefanotis from drafts, which can significantly weaken it. Additionally it is necessary to ensure high air humidity, including by regularly spraying the leaves with soft water.

Proper watering is extremely important for the healthy growth of Stefanotis. During the growth period, i.e. from March to the end of September, the plant should be provided with constantly moist soil. It is best to water it abundantly and often, with soft water at room temperature. Importantly, damp substrate should not be overwatered to avoid root rot. Outside the growth period, watering should be gradually reduced.

You cannot forget about fertilizing Stefanotis, which is best done in the period from April to September. It is important that the fertilizer used is low in nitrogen. It is best to administer it regularly, approximately every 2 weeks. Moreover, for better growth it is worth pruning the plant after the flowering period endsthanks to which it will take on an attractive shape and at the same time it will be better to grow new shoots.
