Inter Milan beat Empoli 3-1 in a match valid for the 21st round of the Italian Championship, held on Sunday (19) at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium, in Milan. The result keeps the Nerazzurri in the fight for leadership of the competition.
The game started evenly, with few clear chances for either side in the first half. The match gained excitement in the second half, when Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a beautiful finish. Denzel Dumfries doubled in the 33rd minute, taking advantage of a corner kick. Empoli pulled one back with Sebastiano Esposito in the 38th minute, but Marcus Thuram secured Inter’s victory in the 43rd minute, after a pass from Marko Arnautovic.
With the victory, Internazionale reached 47 points and took second place in the Italian Championship, remaining just 3 points behind leaders Napoli. Empoli remains in 14th place, with 20 points, and sees its situation getting more complicated in the fight against relegation.
