The festivities and parties surrounding the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump began this weekend in Washington, with fireworks and a rally before the inauguration ceremony, parade and balls this Monday (20).

On inauguration day, Trump participates in religious events, a meeting with President Joe Biden, balls and banquets – not to mention the inauguration ceremony itself, which begins at 2 pm Brasília time. Check out what the busy day of the 47th US president will be like.

Religious service:

Trump will begin the day by attending a service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, across from the White House, in a tradition for presidents-elect.

Trump and future first lady Melania Trump will meet President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden at the White House for a tea that is traditionally held to welcome a new president.

Inauguration ceremony inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda (2 p.m. ET):

  • Musical prelude sung by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln choir
  • Prelude: “The President’s Own,” performed by the United States Marine Corps Band
  • Opening led by Senator Amy Klobuchar, Democrat of Minnesota
  • Invocation by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, and the Rev. Franklin Graham of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelical Association
  • “Oh, America!” by opera singer Christopher Macchio
  • Vice President’s Oath, taken by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh
  • “America the Beautiful,” sung by Carrie Underwood and performed by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Chorus
  • President’s oath of office, taken by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts
  • “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” sung by the U.S. Naval Academy Chorus
  • Trump’s inauguration speech
  • Blessing from Yeshiva University President Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman; imam Husham Al-Husainy of the Karbalaa Islamic Center; senior pastor Lorenzo Sewell of 180 Church Detroit; and Reverend Frank Mann of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn

Farewell to the former president:

A formal farewell will be held for Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as they leave the Capitol.

President’s Signing Room Ceremony:

Trump will head to the President’s Room, just next to the Senate at the U.S. Capitol, for a signing ceremony, where members of Congress will watch as the newly inaugurated president signs appointments, memorandums or executive orders.

Inauguration lunch:

The new president and vice president will attend a luncheon in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol, hosted by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

After lunch, the president and vice president will head to the steps of the East Front of the Capitol, where they will review the military troops.

Presidential parade:

Due to the cold weather, Trump moved the traditional parade down Pennsylvania Avenue to Capitol One Arena, a Washington gymnasium. The event is expected to include speeches from Trump and marching bands.

Ceremony in the Oval Office:

Trump heads to the White House for a ceremony in the Oval Office.

Inaugural balls:

  • Commander in Chief Inaugural Ball: Country music band Rascal Flatts and country singer Parker McCollum will perform at the ball aimed at military service members. Trump is scheduled to speak.
  • Freedom Inauguration Ball: Rapper Nelly, country singer Jason Aldean and disco band The Village People are scheduled to perform at the ball aimed at Trump supporters. Trump is expected to give a speech.
  • Baile Starlight: Singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw will perform and Trump will speak at the third inaugural ball, where guests are expected to be major donors to the president-elect.
