Leader of the opposition PS Michal Šimečka fears that Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) suffers from hallucinations and sees things that do not exist. He stated this after listening to a classified report in the plenary session of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic. He stated that he is concerned that the prime minister, in cooperation with the Slovak Information Service, is unleashing paranoia in the parliament. According to him, this cannot divert attention from the fact that the coalition is falling apart and the government must end.
“I am afraid that the prime minister is suffering from some delusions. He sees things that don’t exist. I don’t know how else to explain it, but that’s my impression from what I heard.” Šimečka told journalists.
“This session of the parliament was supposed to be about dismissing the government. Whatever was said here cannot divert attention from the dearness and decline of Slovakia after 14 years of Robert Fico’s rule. Nor these paranoid conspiracies,” the PS leader added in the opinion.
According to Šimeček, protest gatherings organized by civil society are much more peaceful than those organized by the current coalition in the past, where Fico annoyed people. He emphasized that public meetings are among constitutionally guaranteed rights. He is concerned that the prime minister is using the term “majdanization” because “majdan” means 100 dead civilians who were shot by security forces. According to the head of PS, Fico must weigh his words.
