According to the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, “by 2027, 1% of the country’s aviation must be with SAF”, a sustainable fuel.

According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), SAF is the “alternative fuel to aeronautical fuel of fossil origin, produced from raw materials and processes that meet sustainability standards”.

The minister participated, last Tuesday (21), in a ceremony, alongside the governor of Pará, Ratinho Júnior (PSD), to officially hand over the modernization works at Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (PR).

Silvio Costa Filho stated that implementing the use of this type of fuel “is in dialogue with Brazil’s agenda, with the sustainability agenda, with the green economy agenda”.

The minister highlighted that he has no doubt that the country “places itself at the center of the world with a large investment window in the sustainability agenda”.

In his speech, the head of the Ports and Airports department reinforced the need to debate the use of more sustainable technologies. Taking the lead from COP30, scheduled to take place in November in Belém, the minister stated that the moment is very important, so it is necessary to “advance the structuring agenda”.

“Tax reform approved, we need to ensure that we can have this fiscal agenda in Brazil, which is a priority”, he concluded.
