Looking for their first victory in 2025, Vasco faces Madureira this Thursday (23/01), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), in the fourth round of the Carioca Championship. The match takes place at Arena da Amazônia, in Manaus (AM), with Vasco in charge.
It will be the debut of Vasco’s main squad this year, after three matches with an alternative team. Cruz-Maltino’s B team had three draws and the club is in 9th place in Carioca.
It will also be coach Fábio Carille’s first game at Vasco. The initial rounds were under the command of Ramon Lima, under-17 coach.
On the other hand, Madureira occupies 5th place, with four points. The team is coming off a 2-1 defeat to Portuguesa-RJ.
The first phase of the championship is the Guanabara Cup, in which all teams face each other in a single round. G4 advances to the semi-finals of Cariocão.

Vasco and Madureira will play after friction behind the scenes. Madureira published a note accusing Vasco of preventing the Tricolor delegation from boarding the “flight contracted for the two clubs”. Cruz-Maltino responded and stated that the allegation was “fantasy”.
The game organization contract indicated a charter flight for Vasco and commercial air tickets for Madureira. However, there were difficulties finding tickets for the Tricolor Suburbano. Madureira approached Vasco to ask for a joint trip on the chartered flight, but Cruz-Maltino said no.
