Pilar Alegría will be the new secretary of the PSOE of Aragón. And as has already happened with the cases of and Oscar, it will do so without the need for primaries. The pull of the Government spokesperson and Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, who in recent days had achieved the support of relevant groups in Zaragoza, has led Darío Villagrasa to withdraw his candidacy. He number two Javier Lambán, regional president between 2015 and 2023 and territorial leader since 2012, will announce his resignation in a press conference that he has called at 10:30 at the headquarters of the socialist federation. In this way, Pedro Sánchez completes the fast-track landing of ministers, that is, leaders he completely trusts, in three of the main ones. The commitment to Alegría will have an immediate effect: it will put an end in one fell swoop to the public criticism that Lambán uttered against the President of the Government and his pacts with the pro-independence parties.

Alegría and Villagrasa have held several meetings and telephone conversations in recent hours. The last one was this Thursday, according to sources familiar with the contacts. The two candidates met in Zaragoza after the assembly with militants that Alegría held in Calatayud. In that meeting, neither conditions nor names were negotiated to join Villagrasa’s candidacy. From those around the minister they show their willingness to integrate both him and his closest team of collaborators. Of course, it had been required that the step be taken before the deadline for submitting pre-candidacies opened, this Friday at 12:00.

. If something defines me, it is being a conciliatory person who has worked to build bridges and not to raise walls. We must unite the party around a winning project,” Villagrasa announced less than a month ago at the doors of the Aljafería Palace, headquarters of the Cortes of Aragon. The candidate, who had resigned as head of Organization, then made his candidacy official accompanied by former MEP Isabel García Muñoz and former MEP Noemí Villagrasa.

Darío Villagrasa, 32 years old, has been a deputy in the regional Parliament since 2015 and mayor since 2019 of Bujaraloz, a municipality of less than 1,000 inhabitants in the province of Zaragoza. The official deadline to present pre-candidacies to preside over the regional PSOE begins this Friday at 12:00 and ends Monday at noon. The minister will formalize her pre-candidacy at 12:30. The way, barring surprise, is clear for the renewal of the leadership of training in the community to fall to the minister. The deadline to present pre-candidacies ends on Monday at noon, although no third way is contemplated.
