Passengers will board FAB plane in Manaus this Saturday (25.jan); Lewandowski criticized “disrespectful” treatment
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security ordered the removal of handcuffs from Brazilians who were deported from the United States and who were aboard an American aircraft that landed in Manaus on Friday night (24.Jan.2025).
“On Saturday morning (25), Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, said the President of the Republic, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, about an attempted US authorities to keep Brazilian citizens handcuffed during the deportation flight for Brazil ”the Ministry of Justice.
In a statement, he added that the ministry became aware of the situation of Brazilians by the director general of PF (Federal Police), Andrei Passos Rodrigues. The flight, which was destined for Confins International Airport in Belo Horizonte, had to make an emergency landing in Manaus due to technical problems.

Also in a statement, the Federal Police confirmed that the 88 Brazilians who were aboard the American aircraft with other deported in the United States arrived in Manaus handcuffed.
“Brazilians who arrived handcuffed were received and immediately released from the handcuffs by the Federal Police, ensuring Brazilian sovereignty in national territory and security protocols in our country. The Federal Police prohibited Brazilians will again be detained by the American authorities ”.

The FAB reported that a KC-30 aircraft was highlighted, after requesting the federal government, to provide air support to deported passengers from the United States waiting for the transfer in Manaus.
The aircraft, according to the FAB, took off from Brasilia Air Base at 1 pm, with land scheduled for 2:30 pm at Eduardo Gomes International Airport in Manaus. “Soil time in Manaus will depend on various procedures to be performed by the competent bodies”.
According to the statement, FAB will make available health professionals to monitor the deported passengers – during the route to the final destination, the Confins International Airport, in Belo Horizonte.

The Brazilians arrived in Manaus on Friday (24.jan) and are part of the first wave of the country after the (Republican Party), on Monday (20.jan).
