The Brazilian government invited Cuba President Miguel Díaz-Canel to participate in the Brazil-Caribe summit, scheduled for June in Brasilia. The invitation was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, on behalf of the President (PT), during an official visit to Havana.
In an X (ex-twitter), the Cuban president stated: “I met with Mauro Vieira, a chancellor of Brazil, to whom I transmitted affectionate greetings to President Lula. We discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relationships and advance in cooperation projects. We were invited by Lula to the important Brazil-Caribe summit ”.
Vieira was accompanied by the Brazilian ambassador in Havana, Christian Vargas. According to Itamaraty, the Cuban president confirmed presence at the summit.
