There are nine deputies who lost their immunity due to legal problems

Four of the deputies are suspects in Operation Tutti-Frutti, which investigates secret agreements between PT members and PSDB in municipal elections, but there are still several cases of internal disagreements within the parties.

The Assembly of the Republic has already approved the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of nine deputies in this legislature, allowing them to be heard as defendants in criminal proceedings, reports .

The majority of cases refer to suspected corruption in the PS and PSDwith four accused under Operation Tutti-Frutti. There are also internal disputes within Chega and the Liberal Initiative (IL) that have reached the courts.

The first deputy to lose his immunity in this legislature was João Paulo Rebelo (PS), in May, due to suspicions of favoritism in public contracts during his term as Secretary of State.

In June, PSD deputies Carlos Eduardo Reis, Louis Newton e Margarida Saavedra They lost their immunity due to suspicions in Operation Tutti-Frutti, which investigates secrecy agreements between PT members and PSDB to manipulate candidacies in municipal elections.

Among those involved in Tutti-Frutti is Fernando Medinaformer Minister of Finance and current PT member, who also had his immunity lifted. All defendants deny the crimes.

To waive parliamentary immunity, an investigating judge must make the request to the Assembly. The process involves analysis by a specialized commission and voting in plenary, taking between two weeks and a month.
