The president of the United States, presented on Saturday (25) an initiative to “clean up” the area and said he wanted Egypt and Jordan to welcome Palestinians from this territory as a way of achieving peace in the Middle East. “We’re talking about 1.5 million people, and we’re just going to clean all of that up,” Trump told the press, referring to Gaza as a “demolition site.” He said the measure could be “temporary or long-term”. The republican stated that he had spoken with King Abdullah II of Jordan and hoped to speak with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sissi this Sunday (26).
“I would like Egypt to take the people and I would like Jordan to take the people,” Trump said aboard Air Force One. Most of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have been displaced, some of them multiple times, by the war in Gaza.
