The heavy rains that hit the city of Sao Paulo caused the postponement of the match between Sao Paulo and Corinthians, for the Paulista Championship, this Sunday (26).
The start of the match was scheduled for 6.30 pm at the Morumbis stadium, in the west of the state capital, but was postponed to 7:30 pm after evaluating the conditions of the lawn, in a joint decision between the arbitration, the game director and the two clubs, According to the Paulista Football Federation.
Television images from the side of the field showed the soaked lawn. The stadium has already had flow problems, both in the lawn and in the stands, as occurred in March 2023, in a concert of the English band Coldplay.
Hours before the game, fans of both teams clashed on Marquês de São Vicente Avenue, Barra Funda, West Zone of São Paulo. Images that circulate on social networks show the groups armed with sticks.
Sao Paulo fans went to Morumbis, while Corinthians should meet to watch the game at the headquarters of an organized crowd in Bom Retiro, near the point of the fight.
After the confusion, the São Paulo were escorted by military police to Barra Funda station.
According to the Secretariat of Public Security, there were no injuries or arrested.
