The PSP arrested six young people, between 16 and 21 years old, suspected of robberies using threats, coercion and physical aggression, committed essentially at the university center of Asprela and Avenida Fernão de Magalhães, Porto, it was announced this Monday .
In a statement, the Metropolitan Command of do Porto said that, in the first phase of this criminal prevention operation, carried out on Thursday, on Rua Roberto Frias, in Asprela, two young people, aged 16 and 21, were arrested, from whom “articles involved in the commission of the crime” were seized. , such as a metal wire, a pair of gloves, a shoulder bag, a kitchen knife, a razor, a foreign document, a cell phone and a coat”.
According to the police, this group also included a 15-year-old minor, who was handed over to the institution where he was institutionalized, and an educational process is now underway for him.
“The suspects acted together and the ‘modus operandi’ consisted of approaching the victims, asking them for cigarettes, after which they coerced them in order to cause fear so that they would hand over their belongings, even forcing them to move to ATMs to make withdrawals”, explains the PSP.
The second phase of the operation took place on Avenida Fernão Magalhães, where four men, aged between 16 and 20, were arrested in the act, after attacking a TVDE driver, 57, and stealing a cell phone, with the victim needing to receive hospital treatment.
This operation will be carried out “taking into account several situations of robberies recommended through threats, coercion and physical aggression” committed in that area of the city.
