The Government of Acre informed on Tuesday (28) that the state should be the scene of the feature film “Geni and Zeppelin”. The deputy governor, Mailza Assis, received on the same date the executive producer Mauro Pizzo and filmmaker Sérgio de Carvalho to discuss the details of the film project.
The production will be led by Migdal Filmes, producer responsible for hits such as “My Mother is a piece” and “Our Home. The work is an adaptation of the emblematic music of Chico Buarque, of the same title, and will be directed by the renowned filmmaker Anna Muylaert, known for works known as “What time does she come back?”.
The initiative promises to bring visibility to Acre and a significant injection in the local economy. Muylaert chose the Amazon as the main scenario for the feature and, meeting Sérgio de Carvalho, director of the acclaimed Acreano Nights Alien movie, decided that Acre would be the ideal place for the project.
Filming is expected to happen in Cruzeiro do Sul, exploring the natural beauty and the cultural context of the region. With 100% of the funds from Ancine, through different sources of budget, the production has already guaranteed the distribution by the giant Paris Filmes and Globo Filmes.
The work also seeks local partnerships and is already in dialogue with the State Government and Rio Branco City Hall to enable the execution of the film. The president of the Elias Mansour Foundation (FEM), Minoro Kinpara, pointed out that Acre has only to gain from the film.
The film will feature big names in national cinema in the cast, but also intends to value local talents. For this, selective state will be performed for the choice of acre actors and extras, promoting the integration of the community with film production.
For Mailza Assis, in addition to promoting Acre as a film destination, the production of “Geni and Zeppelin” represents an important economic movement for the state. Hotels, restaurants and other local services are expected to be directly benefited, as well as temporary job generation for support teams and technical professionals.
