French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that France will deliver to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Combat Airplanes MIRAGE 2000-5 equipped with new military capabilities at the end of the first quarter of 2025, as reported
His statement occurs after the recent news about the training of pilots and Ukrainian land crews for the end of Mirage 2000-5 in France. The training program lasted six months. “The French Mirage will soon fly over Ukraine,” Barrot said, adding: “At the end of the quarter (April 1), as the President (Emmanuel Macron) announced.”
In November, the French deputy Frank Giletti confirmed that France will provide Ukraine six Mirage 2000-5 combat planes, along with a full support package, according to the Ukrainian medium.
The French Defense Minister, Sébastien Lecronu, said in October that the new military capabilities of these fighters go through strengthening the Air-Tierra combat skills to be able to carry out air attacks. Likewise, the French fighters will be equipped with electronic defense capabilities, which will allow to counteract the interference signs launched by Russia.
Mirage 2000-5 fighters are mainly designed for aerial defense and can be used to display the Franco-British cruise missiles Scalp, also known as Storm Shadow, which have already been delivered to Ukraine.
The armed forces of France are scheduled to remove the Mirage fighters for the year 2030 and replace them with the most modern Rafale model. Paris has about 40 Mirage 2000-5 fighters, a combat plane that has already been exported to other countries.
