The Youth AfD meeting was attended by about 250 members and was accompanied by protests.
The Youth Organization of the German Party Alternative for Germany (AfD), known as far right, dissolved on Saturday. According to the DPA report, TASR reports that it is expected to replace the organization with more with closer ties to the AfD.
At the Apolda Congress in Apolda, a young alternative (JA) decided to dissolve with effect from March 21, said JA leader Martin Kohler. This step was confirmed by other representatives of me and resources close to AfD.
The police claim that approximately 250 members of the JA participated in the Apold meeting. According to DPA, this meeting was accompanied by protests.
The organization was classified as extremist
In April 2023, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BFV) was classified as extremist. According to BFV, it is xenophobic and tends to behave “immensely” towards people who are perceived as foreigners. I is generally considered more extreme than an AfD.
The chairman of me and a member of the Federal Presidency of the Hannes Gnauck AFD spoke to dissolve the organization in its present form and pointed out that otherwise there would be a risk of a ban on this youth movement. This change was also supported by AFD delegates by voting at a party conference three weeks ago.
The AfD plans to replace the current mostly independent youth organization with a new organization close to the AfD, giving the party more control over the next generation, writes DPA.
Kohler said that the dissolution of the organization means that its name will be deleted from the party statutes, but this does not mean that a possible future organization will not be able to use this name.
“Today is not the end, we will be back, there is no doubt,” Kohler wrote on the network X.
