If you drive across the border to Salzburg, a sign greets from the roadside: “Welcome to the land of the ski World Cup.” That sounds slightly oversubscribed, but the pride is not unfounded: The Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) can organize large sporting events, this is shown annually in Schladming, Seefeld or Bischofshofen. Salzburg is the state that Hermann Maier has produced, but also Anna Veith and Marcel Hirscher. Now it will be the country of the 48th Alpine World Ski Championships.
