Why English donuts They owe their name? This is not fully explained, especially since some historians say that all donuts come from England. However, the history of this dish is not so important.
The most important thing is that these donuts melt in the mouth, they are wonderfully soft, sweet and easy to prepare. They are distinguished by a slightly sour, characteristic taste of cottage cheese and cream broken with a hint of vanilla. It will be an ideal proposition for Fat Thursday.
To prepare this provision, you need:
- 250 g of cottage cheese,
- 250 g of wheat flour,
- 100 g cream 18%,
- 40 g of powdered sugar,
- 2 egg yolks,
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar,
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda,
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract,
Additionally:
- Frying oil
- powdered sugar for sprinkling
Pour sifted flour and powdered sugar into the bowl. Add cream, curd squeezed by Prague and all other ingredients.
Knead the dough for a few minutes to completely combine the ingredients.
Transfer the dough to the kitchen countertop, knead it several times, and then form a ball. Cover it with a bowl and set aside for 10 minutes.
Roll out the dough on a flour -covered counter to a cake about 1 cm thick. Cut donuts with a dedicated donut mold. Alternatively, you can cut out large wheels with a wide glass, and small wheels with glasses. Put the remains of the dough aside and then roll them out again and form donuts.
Pour the oil into a large pot and heat it to 170 degrees Celsius. Fry English donuts on both sides until golden brown for about 2 minutes. Put fried on a plate lined with paper towels. Cool.
Serve donuts after cooling, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Store the remains in a tight container, at room temperature.
