The Australian government has banned all its services from operating on their devices – the chatbot of the startup Chinese company specializing in artificial intelligence – citing reasons for concern for national security.
The Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior issued a mandatory directive to all government entities to “do not use or install Deepseek products, applications and online services and if they find some of them uninstall all these Deeepseek products, applications and online services from all of them all. The systems and devices of the Australian government, “said a statement.
Interior Minister Tony Berk said Deepseek is putting a “unacceptable danger” to government technology and the prohibition with immediate power is “for protecting Australian national security and national interest”, Australian media reported.
The ban does not concern private devices.

The Australian government under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has imposed a similar ban on Chinese implementation of social media Tiktok two years ago, citing security reasons in that case.
