Tuesday’s attack by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the worst mass shooting in the country’s history.

The attacker shot ten people in the training area of the educational facility in the Swedish city of Örebro, the police confirmed on Wednesday. The attacker himself has also died and his motive is not yet known, TASR reports.

“Eleven people, including the murderer, are dead,” the police told AFP. Tuesday’s attack by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the worst mass shooting in the country’s history. “The motive of the shooting is not yet known, but everything suggests that the perpetrator has acted himself, without an ideological motive,” the police said.

The attack took place in the center of adult education Campus Risbergs on Tuesday afternoon. On that day, the police announced that six more people were taken to the hospital with injuries. All injured are adults. Local authorities said they were transferred to the University Hospital in Örebre, where four of them had to operate.

Campus Risbergs serves students who are more than 20 years old. It offers primary and secondary education, Swedish for immigrants, vocational training and programs for people with intellectual disabilities, AP added.

Violence in Swedish schools is not common. Two serious incidents took place in 2022. In March, an 18-year-old student stabbed the death of two secondary school teachers in Malmö in the south of the country. Two months before, a 16-year-old was injured by a knife by another student and teacher at the school in Kristianstad.
