Under the management of Docapesca, the average price of fish traded on the drawings and stations of mainland Portugal grew 5.4% in 2024, reaching 2.39 euros per kilo, the company advanced, an increase of more than twice the inflation recorded in 2024 : 2.4%.
According to, the increase in the average price of fish was transverse to all segments of the fleet, especially the drag vessels, which recorded an increase of 18.4%.
Already the multipurpose and siege vessels also followed this trend, with climbs of 4.5% and 3.1%, respectively.
The Peniche Potter got the highest sales value, registering a turnover of around 38.4 million euros, followed by Sesimbra with 33.2 million euros, from Matosinhos with 29.5 million euros, from Vila Real de Santo António with 18.1 million euros and Aveiro with 16 million euros.
In total, the mains of the continent have transacted 247.7 million euros.
In terms of fish volume, Sesimbra led with 22.8 thousand tons, followed by Matosinhos with 19.1 thousand tons, Peniche with 14.5 thousand tons, Figueira da Foz with 8.1 thousand tons and Aveiro 5, 5 thousand tons, totaling 103.6 thousand tons marketed at national level.
According to Docapesca, Sardinha recovered the first place among the most traded species, followed by the mackerel, the carapau and the Bicheirão, in terms of appreciation, the green was the one that increased the most, with a 40%growth.
The company also claims to have made an investment of over 4.2 million euros in 2024, which allowed to advance the certification of the food security management system in 15 draws, according to the ISO22000 framework.
