Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) said on Tuesday (11) that the “government is not elected to oppose” but a partnership. The statement was given during the opening ceremony of the meeting of new mayors and mayors.

The event was attended by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and other authorities, such as Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB).

During the ceremony dedicated to strengthening the federative pact, Alckmin also said that today was a day when they were “celebrating democracy and how beautiful democracy is!” And praised Lula, noting that the president has “federative commitment”.

“President Lula has federative commitment. The government is not elected to oppose, government partners, and President Lula’s government partners, ”said Alckmin.

“We are here celebrating this partnership. President Lula has a republican spirit and is municipalist, because he wants to rule with the people, ”he added.

The chief executive also spoke during the meeting and defended the importance of the federal government’s dialogue with the municipalities.

“I went back to rule this country with the only responsibility to prove once again that this country tends to be a highly developed country and it will only be developed if the city is developed. There is no rich state with poor city and there is no rich city with a poor state, there needs to be a sharing of things, ”said the president.
