Brussels adopts 'anti -dumping' measures on Chinese biodiesel imports

An investigation that showed that biodiesel imports subject to ‘dumping’ from China “were harming the EU industry, which faced unfair competition and the eventual closure of factories”

The European Commission announced Tuesday that it has applied ‘anti-dumping’ measures on Chinese biodiesel imports after an investigation that revealed unfair competition for producers from 18 European Union (EU) countries.

In a statement, the community executive reveals that he has instituted “anti -dumping measures’ [isto é, para contrariar vendas abaixo do preço de custo] About Chinese biodiesel imports, helping to protect about 6,000 EU jobs in more than 60 producers from 18 Member States. ”

The initiative emerges after an investigation that showed that the biodiesel imports subject to ‘dumping’ from China “were damaging the EU industry, which faced unfair competition and the eventual closure of factories.”

Therefore, rights to biodiesel in pure state will be applied or included in a mixture, and biofuels are excluded for aviation known as sustainable fuel for aviation.

Rights range from 10% to 35.6% and replace provisional rights established in August 2024.

The European Commission says measures “protect a renewable alternative to fossil fuels in the EU transport sector – the main use of biodiesel – thus reinforcing the EU’s energy safety”.

In addition to the measures adopted today on biodiesel from China, the EU has in force ‘anti -dumping’ and compensation on biodiesel imports from other third countries.

The EU biodiesel market has an annual value of 25 billion euros.

‘Dumping’ occurs when a company exports a product at a price lower than the normal value of the product in its domestic market.
