Marcelo Promulga decree that raises Boliqueime to the category of village

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, promulgated the decree that elevates the village of Boliqueime, in the municipality of Loulé, to the category of village, the presidency of the Republic on its official page released.

The decree-law, presented by the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party (PS), had been unanimously approved in the plenary of the Assembly of the Republic on January 17.

The proposal of elevation of Boliqueime to the category of village was presented in September 2024 by the socialist deputies elected by the Circle of Faro, Jamila Madeira, Luís Graça and Jorge Botelho, which joined the socialist deputy Pedro Delgado Alves.

The document was approved generally, with the favorable votes of deputies of all benches, in plenary on October 4 last year.

The final text was analyzed and approved in the specialty by the body that confirmed the legal requirements for the elevation of Boliqueime to the village category.

To be elevated to the village a locality must have more than 3,000 voters in continuous population cluster and at least half of the following establishments: Medical Station, Pharmacy, People’s House, Fishermen, Shows, Cultural Center or other collectivities, Agency Banking, collective public transport, post office, commercial or hotel establishments and a public school.

Located between the cities of Loulé and Albufeira, Boliqueime is a parish in the municipality of Loulé, with an area of ​​46.21 square kilometers and an estimated population of about 6,000 inhabitants.
