A 4.7 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale with epicenter about 14 kilometers west of Seixal, in the Setúbal district, was recorded today by 13:24 in the seismic network stations, revealed the IPMA.

Initially, the Euro-Mediterranean seismological center indicated that the Earthquake had had a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale.

The Portuguese and Sea and the Atmosphere Institute () clarified after it was an earthquake of magnitude 4,7 on the Richter scale, towards the early afternoon of Monday, in the metropolitan area of Lisboa.

According to the IPMA, the epicenter of the earthquake was 14 kilometers west of Seixal.

Earthquake without personal damage

The National Authority of Emergency and Civil Protection (Anepc) indicated that the earthquake did not record personal or material damage so far (around 1:50 pm).

“There is no record of personal or material damage so far,” says Anepc in a publication on social networks.

Anepc reported that “today, at 1:24 pm (local time), it was recorded at the seismic network stations of the continent, an earthquake of magnitude 4.7 (Richter) and whose epicenter was located west of the Seixal.”
