Deputy Duarte Jr. (PSB-MA), from President Lula’s base in the House, charged the minister () information about the public consultation held by the seal that recommends Biennial from the age of 50, as in SUS.
The ANS consultation proposes that the quality certificate adopt as a criterion of good practices in oncology by health plans a tracking of the same way as SUS (Unified Health System), which follows the guidelines of INCA (National Cancer Institute), in which tracking mammography is indicated for patients between 50 and 69 years old with biennial periodicity.
The agency, however, states that women continue to perform mammography from the age of 40. The consultation, closed on January 24, generated controversy in medical entities that among the Brazilian are carried out below 50 years.
In the request for information sent to the minister, the parliamentarian calls for clarification on the criteria used to propose the change and questions whether there is a prediction for the inclusion of other diagnostic methods or age groups in the assessment of good practices.
It also asks about the impact of certification on the coverage guaranteed by the ANS procedures list and if there is a risk of operators prioritizing this certification over examination of exams according to individual clinical need.
“It is worrying that ANS is promoting this public consultation without taking into account the real impact on the lives of women who depend on access to preventive examinations,” says the deputy.
“Reduce the recommendation of mammography to only women between 50 and 69 years ignores the reality of many Brazilians who need this examination from 30 years to ensure early diagnosis and save lives. The role of the regulatory agency should be to expand access to access to health, and not create barriers that can compromise the treatment of breast cancer. “
