Aircraft collision at Arizona airport leaves at least 1 person dead

At least one person has died after two planes collided Wednesday morning at an Arizona airport, police said.

The crash happened at the Marana Regional Airport in Marana, about 21 miles northwest of Tucson.

The Marana Police Department said in a that it was on scene. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were expected to respond.

The department confirmed the fatality but said additional details were “limited at this time.”

The collision follows several other aircraft crashes including a , a fatal on Jan. 31, and the . In that incident, all 67 passengers in both aircraft were killed, making it the deadliest U.S. air crash in almost a quarter century.
